Kewl list.

Referring to the "stink in the basement". One possibility I have for you. A professional plumbing contractor taught me this once. Somewhere in your basement is a drain. This drain has an elbow in it that keeps out sewer gasses. If that elbow "dries out" the smell can come through. In the summer some people have their air conditioning condensation drain into this drain and it keeps it "wet". In the winter it can dry out. Take a gallon jug of water and pour it in the drain. See if that fixes the smell.

I have a feeling that a house guest accidently flooded the toilet and tried to fix it themselves. It's not on the drain side, but very close to the bathroom and it's bad. I think it got into the carpet and frankly, I'm more than a little concerned. I can't stand to go down there. I think I need a carpet guy... and one of those special lights for "hazardous materials" LOL
